Not everyone was wowed by the Gisele Bündchen strut at the Olympics opening ceremony.
They had a right to that opinion. From feelings that Bündchen did not represent Brazil’s diversity, to discontent that such an event was too ostentatious for a country mired in economic recession and political scandal, to wonder about what possible purpose the strut was served.
These range of feelings aside, you have to have loved Bündchen’s dress. Made over a period of 4 months by Brazilian designer, Alexandre Herchcovitch , the dress was all glamor and sparkle in golden sequins.
It inspired our style genius. It confirmed what we always believed about wearing revealing outfits elegantly (Don’t tell on us to mom!).
It’s long sleeves balanced out the plunging neckline, and the long length balanced out the thigh high slit. See here for more tips!
And if you’re conflicted about what wearing revealing outfits means for the male gaze, and its implications on the empowerment of women, well, there’s is an argument for oppression, and there’s one for power.
Huh? So reveal or do not reveal? I guess everything is all grey, and everything is all full of contradiction, and we’re all just doing our best.
